Dear Foster City Baseball or Softball Graduate:
We would like to invite you to apply to become a Youth Umpire for the upcoming Spring season. Umpiring is a great way to earn money and leverage your little league baseball or softball experience. Our goal is to supply well-trained, mature, and committed umpires. If you are (still) playing organized baseball or softball please carefully consider whether you will realistically have the time to both umpire and play, in addition to your schoolwork. The spring season starts in late February and goes through play-offs in early June.
In order to become a youth umpire, you must:
Youth umpires will start as field umpires for AAA baseball and work their way up to majors and eventually plate umpire based on ability, coach and chief umpire feedback. Youth umpires will be paid:
$20 per game as a field umpire
Plate umpire selection and payment is handled through the chief umpire
You can choose to receive two hours of community service per game instead of being paid. Game assignments will be administered by the FCLL Board umpire/scorekeeper coordinator.
If you would like to be considered for a youth umpire position, please fill out the online application by the end of January and email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Based upon response, we will invite as many youths as possible to become FCLL umpires. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee everyone a spot. Those who are available to umpire both weeknights and weekends will have preference over part-time applicants.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Youth Umpire in Foster City.
